Kate Kallot

Kate Kallot is a deep-tech executive and entrepreneur who has worked across some of the defining technologies behind modern AI. Today, as Founder and CEO of Amini, she is building sovereign AI infrastructure for governments and enterprises across the Global South.

Before founding Amini, Kate Kallot built AI hardware at Intel, helped advance the TinyML movement at Arm, and led developer relations and ecosystem expansion across emerging markets at NVIDIA.

Amini, which she founded in 2022, emerged from that experience. The company initially tackled Africa’s severe shortage of high-quality environmental and agricultural data. It combined satellite imagery, local data and AI to make previously invisible economic and climate patterns measurable. Its work helped support a 30% reduction in agricultural insurance premiums across East Africa.

But Kallot identified a larger constraint. Data only creates value when countries have the infrastructure and computing power to use it. AI compute remains heavily concentrated globally. That leaves much of the Global South dependent on infrastructure controlled elsewhere. Kallot’s response has been to move further down the stack.

Today, Kate Kallot leads Amini as it builds sovereign data and AI infrastructure for governments and enterprises. Its platform spans data ingestion, local compute, digital infrastructure and AI applications. Amini has digitised more than 1.5 million documents and operates across more than 25 countries.

The scale of that ambition became clearer in 2026. Amini partnered with Foxconn and Bull to develop locally deployable AI data-centre infrastructure across Africa and the Global South. The model gives governments and institutions the ability to acquire and operate industrial-grade compute locally, within their own regulatory environments.

Kallot’s argument is ultimately economic as much as technical. Countries that supply data and talent but lack control of compute risk remaining consumers of an AI economy built elsewhere. She wants to change that equation, giving countries the infrastructure, data and technical capacity to build and capture more value from AI themselves.

That perspective has taken Kate Kallot well beyond the technology sector. TIME named her one of its 100 Most Influential People in AI, and she received a TIME100 Impact Award in 2025. She also advises on technology and AI policy through roles including Vice Chair of the ICC Global Environmental and Energy Commission and membership of EY’s Global AI Advisory Council.
