Feiyu Xu

Dr Feiyu Xu is a leading figure in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Germany and a renowned expert in natural language processing and AI strategy. She currently serves as CEO of Amber Iris AI Consulting, and is a member of the Supervisory Board of ZF Group, as well as a Non-Executive Director at Airbus Group, ChainIQ Group, and Zühlke Group.

From 2020 to 2023, Xu was Senior Vice President and Global Head of AI at SAP SE, where she played a pivotal role in defining and executing SAP’s corporate AI strategy, driving the company’s intelligent transformation. Prior to that, she served as Vice President at Lenovo Group and Head of the AI Lab at Lenovo Research in Beijing, overseeing global AI technology strategy and innovation.

Earlier in her career, Xu was a Principal Researcher at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Berlin, where she led the Text Analytics Research Group in the Language Technology Lab. In 2013, she received a prestigious Google Focused Research Award for her contributions to natural language processing. In 2014, she was named a DFKI Research Fellow, the organisation’s highest honor for researchers.

An entrepreneur as well as a scientist, Xu co-founded Nyonic, an AI start-up dedicated to enterprise-grade generative AI, and served as its Chief Product Officer until March 2024. She also co-founded and led Yocoy Technologies GmbH, a DFKI spin-off, as General Manager. In addition to her business and academic roles, Xu is Chairwoman of Asia Berlin Forum e.V. and a member of the advisory board of Global Neighbours, actively fostering dialogue and collaboration between Europe, Asia, and beyond. She has authored over 100 research publications and has served in leadership roles at numerous top-tier AI and NLP conferences.

Xu holds a PhD in Computational Linguistics from Saarland University, where she also completed her MSc (Diploma) with distinction.
