Thierry Malleret

Thierry Malleret is the founder and managing partner of Monthly Barometer. The eponymous flagship monthly newsletter is Thierry’s brainchild and the product of his innovative and exacting approach to research and analysis.

With decades of diverse professional experience, Malleret has served as Chief Economist and Strategist at a major Russian investment bank, and as an Economist at the EBRD in London. His background spans think tanks and academia in New York and Oxford, along with a notable three-year tenure in the French Prime Minister’s office.

At the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, Malleret founded and led the Global Risk Network, significantly influencing the program for the annual meeting in Davos. Prior to his work with Monthly Barometer, he was a senior partner at IJ Partners, an investment boutique in Geneva, and the managing partner of Rainbow Insight, an advisory firm he founded and later sold.

In 2015, Malleret established the Summit of Minds, a series of high-level meetings that blend rigorous discourse on macro issues with a focus on personal wellbeing and nature. Initially held in Chamonix, these gatherings now take place globally, reflecting Malleret’s lifelong passion for the outdoors.

An accomplished author, Malleret has numerous business and academic publications, including the international bestseller COVID-19: The Great Reset, co-authored with Klaus Schwab. His latest novel, Deaths at Davos, merges fact with fiction to address critical geopolitical themes. Malleret is a sought-after speaker worldwide and serves on various advisory boards, continually contributing to discussions on pressing global challenges.

Malleret was educated at the Sorbonne and Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris and at St. Antony’s College, Oxford. He holds two MAs (in Economics and History) and a PhD in Economics.
