Camille Herron's Biography

Camille Herron is an ultrarunner whose passion, perseverance and positivity has made her an icon in the world of long-distance running. Known for her signature style of running (hair down with a big smile), Herron fuels her ultramarathons with an unconventional choice: tacos.

Herron is a 4-time IAU International Ultrarunner of the Year and a 6-time USATF Ultrarunner of the Year. She has set numerous World Records and Bests between 50 miles and 6 days, a testament to her extraordinary endurance and determination. In 2024, she was inducted into the RRCA Distance Running Hall of Fame, cementing her status as one of the greatest ultramarathon runners of all time.

Herron is a pioneer whose career is peppered with remarkable milestones. She was the first woman to surpass a men's American record. In 2024, she set 13 American and World Records at the lululemon Further 6 Day race. Herron also holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon run in a superhero costume after clocking 2:48:51 dressed as Spiderwoman. Furthermore, Camille Herron was the youngest woman to reach 100,000 lifetime running miles back in 2022.

Herron's training regimen is deeply grounded in science. She began her academic journey as a pre-med student at the University of Tulsa before shifting her focus to scientific research. At Oregon State University, Herron studied the impact of strength training on bone and muscle, with her master's thesis investigating the relationship between mechanical stress and bone recovery. This research was inspired by her own experiences with stress fractures in high school and college and shapes her unique approach to training.

Herron's versatility extends to trail running, where she has secured wins at prestigious events like the JFK 50 miles, Bandera 100km, Black Canyon 100km, Tunnel Hill 100 (where she set a course record and trail best of 12:42:40), Tarawera 100km and 100 miles (she holds course records for both), and the Javelina Jundred (course record of 14:03:23). As a member of the Pro Trail Runners Association, she actively contributes to the Women's Equality and Anti-Doping Working Groups and was accepted into the US Department of State Sports Diplomacy Programme in 2023.

Passionate about helping other athletes and women, Camille Herron champions various causes. These include women’s health, perimenopause, gender equality, mental health, anti-doping and diversity and inclusion. Herron's infectious spirit, leadership and exceptional achievements make her a highly sought-after motivational speaker.
