Yuhki Yamashita

Yuhki Yamashita currently serves as Chief Product Officer at Figma, where he leads product and design across the company, steering Figma’s evolution as one of the world’s most influential collaborative design platforms.

Yamashita joined Figma in April 2019 as Vice President of Product, before being elevated to CPO in June 2022. Under his leadership, Figma has expanded far beyond its roots as a designer-centric tool, growing into a multi-product platform that serves a broad spectrum of roles, from designers to engineers to product managers.

A core tenet of Yamashita’s philosophy is “user love.” In a 2025 conversation with McKinsey, he explained how Figma’s growth has been driven not merely by metrics, but by building genuine relationships with users and communities, and giving them a voice in shaping the product. This approach has translated into product-led growth: Figma’s URL-based, browser-first collaboration model enables extremely low friction onboarding, democratising access and encouraging viral spread among teams. Early in his tenure, he helped shift Figma’s internal mindset from document-heavy meetings to a “deck-based” culture, encouraging cross-functional teams (product managers, engineers, designers) to collaborate directly inside Figma.

Yukhi Yamashita’s background prior to Figma is extensive and varied: he spent over four years at Uber, where he led efforts on new mobility and redesigns of both rider and driver apps. Before Uber, he held product-focused roles at Google (working on the YouTube iOS app) and Microsoft (in program/product management for Outlook.com / Windows Mail / Calendar).

Yamashita holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Harvard College. In addition, he served as a Head Teaching Fellow for the university’s introductory computer science course.
