Tom Chi

Tom Chi is the Founding Partner of at One Ventures, an early-stage (Seed, Series A) investment firm backing companies that leverage disruptive deep technology to transform the unit economics of established industries while dramatically reducing their planetary footprint.

Throughout his career, Chi has worked across a wide spectrum of disciplines, from astrophysical researcher at the Harvard-Smithsonian Observatory at age 15 studying active galactic nuclei, to Fortune 500 consultant, to corporate executive leading the development of breakthrough hardware and software products and services. He has played a pivotal role in globally impactful initiatives such as Microsoft Outlook and Yahoo Search, and has built multiple projects from conception to large-scale adoption.

A lifelong inventor, Chi holds 75 patents spanning hardware, software, design, and mechanical systems. He is also recognised for pioneering a distinctive approach to rapid prototyping, visioning, and leadership, methods that have accelerated innovation and organisational transformation across more than a dozen industry-leading companies. As one of the founding members of Google X, he served as Head of Product Experience, contributing to the development of technologies such as Google Glass and Google’s self-driving car program.

Today, Chi’s work is focused on investing in deep tech innovations that can fundamentally reshape the industrial economy and help humanity become a net positive to nature. Through At One Ventures, he aims to identify, fund, and mentor entrepreneurs tackling the industries most responsible for climate destabilisation. He also advises a select number of values-aligned organisations and leaders working toward a regenerative and sustainable future.
