Suzy Welch

Suzy Welch is an award-winning professor at NYU Stern School of Business, a New York Times bestselling author, and a leading voice in the field of purpose-driven leadership and personal development. Her most recent book, Becoming You: A Proven Method for Crafting Your Authentic Life and Career, is a #1 Amazon bestseller and the foundation for her widely popular podcast of the same name, one of the most-listened-to career podcasts in the United States.

A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School, Welch earned her PhD in business from the University of Bristol. She is the founder and CEO of Becoming You Labs, where she has developed a suite of digital assessment tools for personal and professional growth, including The Values Bridge and PIE360. Two additional instruments, the Career Traits Compass and the Holland Bridge are currently in advanced beta testing.

She began her career as a reporter for The Miami Herald in 1981, and after an assignment to the business beat, pivoted to attend Harvard Business School, where she graduated as a Baker Scholar. She spent several years at Bain & Company as a management consultant, primarily serving industrial clients in the US Midwest. In 1995, Welch joined the Harvard Business Review, eventually becoming its editor-in-chief. Alongside her late husband, Jack Welch, she co-authored the international bestsellers Winning and The Real-Life MBA. On her own, she authored 10-10-10: A Life-Transforming Idea, a bestseller based on a decision-making framework she developed as a columnist for O: The Oprah Magazine.

Since joining NYU Stern in 2020, Welch has developed and taught two of the school’s most sought-after courses: Becoming You: Crafting the Authentic Life You Want and Need, a transformational journey in personal clarity and purpose; and Managing with Purpose, a leadership course centered on the practices and mindsets of high-impact, values-driven leaders.
