Sheila Lirio Marcelo

Sheila Lirio Marcelo is a Filipino-American entrepreneur and technology leader, currently serving as Co-Founder and CEO of Ohai.ai, a company harnessing artificial intelligence to support home and household management. She is also the founder of Proof of Learn, an education platform where she previously served as CEO.

Marcelo was a Venture Partner at New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and is a founding board member of The Asian American Foundation (TAAF). She is best known as the founder of Care.com, which she launched in 2006. Under her leadership, the company experienced rapid year-over-year growth, went public in early 2014, and was acquired by IAC in 2020. Today, Care.com remains the world’s largest online platform for finding and managing family care, serving over 35 million people across 20 countries.

Before founding Care.com, Marcelo held senior roles at Upromise, where she was Vice President of Product Management and Marketing, helping families save for college. She later joined Matrix Partners as an Entrepreneur in Residence, where she developed the business plan for Care.com.

Marcelo has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including recognition as one of Fortune’s “Top 10 Women Entrepreneurs” at its Most Powerful Women Summit. She is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute, a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, a Marshall Memorial Fellow, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

She earned her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College, which also awarded her an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in 2015. Marcelo holds both J.D. and M.B.A. degrees with honors from Harvard University, and in 2014, she became the youngest recipient of the Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award.
