Shane Battier

Over the course of a distinguished 13-year NBA career and a celebrated collegiate run at Duke University, Shane Battier established himself as a scholar-athlete, All-American, leader, champion, and philanthropist.

Beyond the court, Battier has become a respected angel investor and business leader, with a keen interest in companies leveraging disruptive technologies to reshape industries. His investment portfolio includes successful ventures such as Lineage Logistics, Coupang, and Second Spectrum. His disciplined, analytical mindset, honed during years of high-performance competition translates seamlessly into evaluating and supporting high-growth businesses.

A pioneer in the use of data and analytics in sports, Battier brought this expertise to his role as Vice President of Analytics and Basketball Development for the Miami Heat. His ability to identify and optimise team dynamics has also made him a valuable board member for organisations such as Yext, Authentic Restaurant Brands (ARB), BOA Acquisition Corp (NYSE: BOAS), Arctos Sports Partners, and others.

Battier is highly sought after by Fortune 500 companies and executive teams for his expertise on high-performance environments, championship culture, and the “intangibles” that drive elite outcomes. His talks illuminate the difference between merely participating and truly winning in both sports and business. Battier is also co-host of Glue Guys, a podcast created with Alex Smith and Ravi Gupta. Together, they explore meaningful conversations at the intersection of leadership, teamwork, resilience, sports, business, and personal growth, often joined by insightful guests and collaborators.

In 2008, Battier and his wife Heidi founded the Battier Take Charge Foundation, an organisation committed to advancing educational opportunities for underserved youth. With active programs in Miami, Detroit, Houston, and Philadelphia, the Foundation embodies its mission to “Do Well, Do Good,” having awarded more than $2.3 million in scholarships to over 100 students nationwide.

Battier graduated from Duke University in May 2001 with an NCAA Championship and a degree in Comparative Religions. He swept the national player of the year awards, was named the academic player of the year and won a gold medal at the Goodwill Games as a member of USA Basketball.
