Sergey Brin

A pioneer in the technology industry, Sergey Brin is widely recognised for co-founding Google and helping transform the way people access information online. Born in Moscow, Russia, in 1973, Brin immigrated to the United States with his family at a young age, where he developed a strong interest in mathematics and computer science. He later earned a degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Maryland before pursuing graduate studies at Stanford University. It was at Stanford that he met Larry Page, with whom he would go on to build Google.

In 1998, Brin and Page launched Google with the mission of organising the world’s information and making it universally accessible and useful. Their innovative search engine technology quickly transformed how people access information online, setting new standards for internet search, digital advertising, and data-driven innovation. Under Brin’s leadership, Google expanded beyond search into products and services including cloud computing, mobile operating systems, artificial intelligence, and autonomous technologies. Brin also played a significant role in the creation of Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company, where he served as President until stepping down from the role in 2019, but remains a board member and a controlling shareholder.

In 2023, he resumed active involvement in the company’s operations, particularly contributing to the development of Google’s advanced artificial intelligence system, Gemini. His renewed focus on AI reflects Google’s continued commitment to remaining at the forefront of innovation in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence landscape.

In addition to his business achievements, Brin is known for his philanthropic work, particularly in the fields of medical research, education, and science. His contributions to technology and innovation have had a lasting impact on the global digital economy and modern society.
