Paul McVeigh has spent over 25 years performing at the highest levels in two of the world’s most demanding arenas: elite sport and performance psychology. A former Premier League and international footballer with Tottenham Hotspur, Norwich City, and Northern Ireland, McVeigh competed alongside and against some of the top athletes in the game, experiences that shaped his deep understanding of high performance.
McVeigh began his senior club career with Tottenham Hotspur in 1999 before moving to Norwich City in 2000, where he spent seven seasons competing at the top level. During his time at Norwich, he became the club’s top scorer in the 2002–2003 season and played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League. He made a total of 215 appearances and earned recognition for his performances in 2005, being named Player of the Month in both December and January. On the international stage, McVeigh represented Northern Ireland between 1999 and 2004, earning 20 caps for his country.
McVeigh became the first Premier League player to earn a Master’s degree in Psychology. Today, he is recognised globally as a leading authority on mental performance. He helps leaders and teams unlock their full potential by applying proven psychological tools tailored to high-pressure environments, particularly in financial services, tech, and professional services. His clients include organisations like Microsoft, Cisco, Barclays, NatWest, Deutsche Bank, Aviva, PwC, and Grant Thornton.
In addition to his work as a speaker and consultant, McVeigh is a regular media contributor with the BBC, Sky Sports, and BT Sport, and is the author of The Stupid Footballer is Dead, published by Bloomsbury.
