MJ Burk Chun is a robotics innovator and co-founder of Serve Robotics, where she serves as Vice President of Product and Design. With deep experience in building and scaling technology products, she plays a leading role in the autonomous delivery revolution, shaping how AI-powered robotics operate in everyday urban environments.
Chun co-founded Serve Robotics in 2021, following its spin-off from Uber. Since then, she has played a central role in defining the company’s vision, product strategy, and design philosophy. She leads the development of Serve’s autonomous delivery platform, overseeing a fleet of AI-enabled robots operating across multiple US cities. Under her leadership, the company has completed more than 100,000 deliveries and expanded rapidly from a single market in Los Angeles to several major metropolitan areas.
Notably, MJ Chun is known for her ability to bridge advanced engineering with human-centered design. She has helped pioneer a new category of “physical AI,” where machine vision, sensor fusion, and real-time learning enable robots to safely navigate complex urban environments. Her work emphasises not only performance and reliability, but also approachability. As a result, the robots she helps create are intentionally designed to feel intuitive, accessible, and even personable within the communities they serve.
Beyond her operational leadership, Chun is deeply committed to advancing diversity in technology. She has been a long-time mentor with the TechWomen initiative, supporting women in STEM globally and advocating for more inclusive pathways into engineering and leadership.
In recognition of her impact, MJ Chun was named to the Inc. Female Founders 500, an annual list honoring the most innovative and influential women entrepreneurs in the United States. The distinction underscores her leadership in scaling Serve Robotics, her contributions to AI-driven innovation, and her commitment to building both transformative technology and inclusive teams.
