Michael Dunne

Michael Dunne is the founder of Dunne Insights, a global intelligence and advisory service in the electric vehicle market. He has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry in the US and Asia. His advanced foreign language capabilities – Chinese, Thai, Indonesian and French – have helped facilitate an illustrious multinational career.

A keen entrepreneur, Dunne founded his first company in 1993, Automotive Resources. After J.D. Power’s acquisition of the firm in 2006, he took over operations for the US consumer insights and advisory firm in China, acting as Vice President and Managing Director. During Dunne’s time at J.D. Power, sales more than tripled.

In 2010, Michael Dunne moved with his family to Indonesia and founded Car Keys Asia, eventually selling his business for profit to local investors. While President of General Motors Indonesia, he wrote an influential book about China’s growing automobile market, “American Wheels, Chinese Roads.” The book is an account of General Motors’ roaring success in the Chinese market, even as the company struggled at home.

Dunne was early to recognise the transformational potential of Electric Vehicles (EV).  In 2015 he moved back to the US and set up Dunne Insights. The company provides specialist market intelligence on the industry and covers 95% of the world’s EV markets.

Michael Dunne is frequently engaged by corporate leaders in the US, Europe and Asia for his foresight on the EV revolution. He is the creator and host of the podcast, “Driving with Dunne.”
