Maya Pindeus

Maya Pindeus is teaching AI to understand a world it cannot always observe. After building predictive AI for autonomous vehicles, she now creates synthetic satellite data to help machines learn from scenarios that have never happened.

AI is becoming remarkably good at recognising patterns. But has it seen enough of the world to recognise the right ones?

Maya Pindeus is the co-founder and CEO of Another Earth. The company creates synthetic satellite data to train AI models to spot environmental and operational risks. The idea is simple. Some situations do not happen often enough to give AI useful training data. Others are too remote, expensive or difficult to observe. Another Earth creates realistic data and simulations to fill those gaps.

Its technology can help AI detect changes in forests, assess crop conditions and identify infrastructure damage. It can also help organisations monitor places that are difficult to reach on the ground. More importantly, it lets them test how AI responds to different scenarios before those situations occur in the real world.

For Pindeus, this is more than another application of AI. It reflects an idea that has shaped her career: technology should adapt to the complexity of the world, not the other way around.

She first explored that idea through Humanising Autonomy, the predictive AI company she co-founded in London in 2017. The company taught autonomous systems to anticipate how people might behave around them. Under Pindeus’s leadership, it grew to more than 50 people and raised over $20 million. It also worked with more than 10 Fortune Global 500 companies, with its technology deployed across thousands of devices and vehicles.

Maya Pindeus studied at Imperial College London, the Royal College of Art and the University of Applied Arts Vienna, including the Masterclass Zaha Hadid. In 2017, Forbes named her to its 30 Under 30 list. She has also contributed to the World Economic Forum and industry initiatives focused on AI and autonomous systems.

In 2026, Another Earth raised €3.5 million to expand its technology across critical ecosystems. Pindeus is now applying her experience building AI for the physical world to a much bigger question: how can machines learn to understand a planet that never stops changing?
