Marc Priestley

Marc Priestley is a renowned broadcaster and former Formula One McLaren Pit Crew member with over a decade of experience in both team management and pitstop operations.

During his time at McLaren, Priestley became one of the team’s most seasoned pit crew members, working alongside a prestigious roster of drivers, including World Champions like Mika Hakkinen, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button, and Lewis Hamilton. He navigated both the triumphs and challenges of working in the highly technical and fast-paced world of Formula One, where exceptional teamwork, leadership, and strategic thinking were paramount.

Before his F1 career, Priestley started as a mechanic in British Formula 3 at Silverstone, working with Speedsport F3. In 1999, he moved to Orbit Motorsport, where he caught the attention of McLaren Racing, eventually joining their elite team. After nearly a decade at McLaren, Priestley transitioned to a pivotal role in establishing the FIA Formula Two Championship, where he served as Race Team Manager, overseeing a team of 40 mechanics and crew members.

Following his time in motorsport, Priestley shifted to a successful broadcasting career, becoming a popular commentator for various sports outlets, including the BBC. In 2014, he joined ITV’s Formula E coverage team, providing expert insight into the electric racing series. Priestley is also the author of The Mechanic, a book that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of a racing team, along with personal anecdotes and valuable lessons on success. His podcast, Pitlane Life Lessons, further explores the valuable lessons from the high-stakes world of motorsport.

Since 2021, Priestley has co-hosted Wheeler Dealers, a popular show on the Discovery Channel, reaching a global audience and continuing his journey as a prominent voice in motorsport and automotive broadcasting.
