Kyra Poh is a globally acclaimed athlete and a pioneering figure in the emerging sport of indoor skydiving. Recognised for her groundbreaking achievements and technical mastery, she has consistently pushed the boundaries of the sport from an early age.
Poh was introduced to indoor skydiving at the age of eight when her mother was working on advertising for iFly Singapore, home to one of the world’s largest vertical wind tunnels. Her talent quickly became evident, and after years of disciplined training, she achieved international recognition in 2016 by winning the Junior Freestyle category at the Indoor Skydiving World Cup in Warsaw, Poland, at just 14 years old.
Her ascent continued with remarkable victories in 2017 at the Wind Games in Spain, where she was named the “world’s fastest flyer,” earning two medals. In 2018, Poh secured a silver medal in the Solo Freestyle Open category at the FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championships in Bahrain and made history for Singapore by winning the gold medal in the Dynamic Two-Way event alongside teammate Choo Yi Xuan.
Poh holds four Guinness World Records, including the record for the most backward somersaults in a wind tunnel (68), and is capable of manoeuvring through airflows reaching speeds of up to 230 km/h. She is also the only athlete to have claimed all possible solo titles in both the World Championships and World Cup across junior and open divisions.
As a Red Bull-sponsored athlete, Poh balances her sporting career with academic pursuits. She currently splits her time between Singapore and Cergy, France, where she is enrolled in the ESSEC Global Bachelor’s in Business Administration programme.
