Kim Heungchong

Kim Heungchong is a distinguished economist and policy advisor with extensive experience in international economic policy, trade negotiations, and regional cooperation. He currently serves as a member of the Trade Agreement Policy Advisory Committee at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) of Korea, Senior Advisor to D&A LLC, and Head of the Economic Policy Advisory Team in the firm’s US Strategy and Policy Division. He is also an active participant in the Korea-Russia Dialogue (KRD), the Law and Policy Forum, and the Financial Internationalisation Forum.

From 2020 to 2023, Kim served as President of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy and Chair of the Korea National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation. He has held leadership roles in several prominent regional and international associations, including President of the European Studies Association of the Asia-Pacific President of the Korean Association of EU Studies, and President of the Korea APEC Studies Association. In 2023, he co-chaired a Task Force for Think20 India under the G20 framework. He has also contributed to the International Advisory Board of the Thailand Development Research Institute and the International Advisory Council of the World Digital Economy & Technology Summit.

Kim was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, and an Honorary Member of High Table at Christ Church, Oxford. He has held visiting positions at Ifri (France), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), Korea University, and Marmara University (Turkey). He holds a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Economics from Seoul National University and an MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford.
