Dr Kat Lederle is the co-founder of Somnia, an organisation dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of healthy sleep. She is the author of Sleep Sense, a practical guide to understanding the science of sleep and its vital role in health and well-being.
Lederle earned her PhD in Human Circadian Physiology and Behaviour from the University of Surrey in 2010. She is an active member of several professional organisations, including the British Sleep Society, the German Sleep Society, the European Sleep Society, The Compassionate Mind Foundation, and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science.
Her work spans both individual and organisational contexts. She provides therapeutic sleep coaching, integrating evidence-based sleep science and circadian biology with Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In addition to her clinical practice, Lederle advises national and international organisations in safety-critical sectors on fatigue management. She has conducted fatigue risk audits and developed fatigue awareness and training programmes for clients across industries including aviation, mining, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and public sector bodies. Her international consulting experience includes projects in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Ghana, Peru, Qatar, and the United States, undertaken in collaboration with Paul Jackson during their tenure at Clockwork Research.
