Jesse Zhang is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Decagon, an enterprise-grade conversational AI platform transforming customer experience. Under his leadership, Decagon has emerged as one of the fastest-growing AI companies in Silicon Valley, enabling organisations to deploy reliable, secure, and scalable AI agents for customer support.
Zhang founded Decagon after witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by modern support teams: rapidly growing ticket volumes, long response times, rising operational costs, and limited tooling for safely deploying AI in production. Decagon was built to address these gaps, with a focus on enterprise-ready AI agent implementation. The platform emphasises robust security controls, seamless handoffs between AI and human agents, and continuous training loops to ensure accuracy and performance over time.
Founded just two years ago, Decagon now powers AI-driven customer service for more than 100 companies, including Notion, Bilt, Duolingo, Substack, and Rippling. Decagon’s AI agents handle a wide range of customer interactions, from explaining product functionality to processing refunds, managing order replacements, and canceling subscriptions. The company has raised $255 million in funding from leading venture capital firms such as Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and Bain Capital Ventures.
Zhang’s entrepreneurial path began early. In 2018, after recognising that traditional coursework was not fully aligned with his goals as a founder, he completed his Harvard computer science degree a year ahead of schedule. That same year, he launched Lowkey, a consumer app for recording and sharing gaming clip. Marking the start of his career building technology companies at the intersection of product, engineering, and scale. In 2021, Lowkey was acquired by Niantic, the game development company behind Pokémon GO, in a mid-eight-figure transaction.
