Jane Sun

Born in Shanghai, Jane Sun was studying law at Peking University during a transformative period in China’s economic opening. In her sophomore year, she was selected to study at the University of Florida in the United States, becoming part of the first cohort of Chinese students sent abroad for higher education. Sun graduated with High Honours from the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida and subsequently earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Peking University.

She began her career in Silicon Valley as an auditor with KPMG before joining Applied Materials, where she spent seven years in the semiconductor equipment industry. In 2005, Sun joined Trip.com Group as Chief Financial Officer, a role that marked a significant milestone in her professional career. She was instrumental in strengthening investor confidence in China’s rapidly growing travel sector and positioning Trip.com Group as a leading company within the industry. Through extensive international investor engagement and regular global roadshows, she helped expand the company’s global profile and capital market presence.

Sun is recognised for her disciplined leadership, operational focus, and strategic execution. She played a central role in advancing Trip.com Group’s global partnerships, investments, and expansion initiatives, while maintaining a strong emphasis on operational excellence and organisational resilience. Her contributions led to successive leadership appointments as Chief Operating Officer and subsequently Chief Executive Officer.

Since her appointment to the company in 2005, Trip.com Group’s market capitalisation has increased from approximately US$1 billion to more than US$20 billion. Sun has received numerous industry accolades, including Institutional Investor Awards for Best CEO and Best CFO. In 2019, she was named among the world’s most powerful women and was recognised by Forbes as one of the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Business.
