One of China’s leading embodied AI researchers, He Wang is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the Center on Frontiers of Computing Studies at Peking University. He also leads the Embodied Perception and InteraCtion (EPIC) Lab.
Wang’s work focuses on generalisable robotic skills and embodied multimodal large models. Systems designed to help machines operate intelligently in complex, dynamic environments. As AI shifts from language models to physical intelligence, Wang has emerged as a key figure driving that transition.
Alongside his academic work, Wang earned recognition as a Boya Young Scholar at Peking University and secured selection into China’s National High-Level Overseas Talents Programme. He combines deep technical rigour with an expansive vision for embodied AI. In particular, his research examines how robots can learn continuously, adapt across environments, and develop increasingly human-like capabilities through perception, motion, and interaction.
Before returning to China, He Wang completed his PhD at Stanford University under the supervision of Leonidas J. Guibas, a leading figure in computer vision and geometry processing. He later founded and now serves as CTO of GALBOT, one of China’s fastest-rising embodied intelligence companies.
Since launching in 2023, GALBOT has grown into a major force in humanoid robotics. The company has attracted billions in funding from major industrial and state-backed investors. Under Wang’s technical leadership, GALBOT develops full-stack embodied AI systems that combine perception, reasoning, locomotion, and autonomous decision-making.
He Wang remains widely recognised as one of the earliest researchers pursuing end-to-end embodied large models. The approach unifies robotic perception, planning, and action within a single learning framework. His work reflects a broader belief that the next leap in AI will come from machines capable of understanding and navigating the physical world.
