Gavin Baker is the Founder, Managing Partner, and Chief Investment Officer of Atreides Management, LP, a crossover investment firm focused on high-growth technology and consumer companies across public and private markets. Atreides invests with a long-term perspective, and as Managing Partner and CIO, Baker oversees the firm’s investment strategy, research efforts, and day-to-day portfolio management.
Prior to founding Atreides, Baker spent 18 years at Fidelity Investments, where he most recently served as Portfolio Manager of the Fidelity OTC Portfolio. Under his leadership, the $17 billion fund outperformed its peers and earned six Lipper Awards, recognising excellence in fund management. In 2014, Baker was named Fund Manager of the Year by The Boston Globe for his performance managing the Fidelity OTC Fund. Earlier in his tenure at Fidelity, Baker managed the Fidelity Select Wireless, Fidelity Select Telecommunications, and Fidelity Select Pharmaceuticals portfolios.
Baker also played a key role in expanding Fidelity’s venture capital investing efforts. During this time, he served as a board observer for companies including Nutanix, 23andMe, Jet.com, AppNexus, Dataminr, and Roku, and invested in companies such as Twilio, WeWork, Cloudflare, and SpaceX. He also serves as a Director on the board of Xsight Labs, an Israel-based semiconductor company focused on cloud infrastructure.
He holds a degree in History and Economics from Dartmouth College.
