Eliza Filby

Eliza Filby connects history to the decisions that matter today: how to manage a workforce of five generations, prepare for the largest transfer of wealth in living memory, or lead when the future looks nothing like the recent past.

Drawing on history, Eliza Filby explains how AI, demographics and inheritance are fundamentally reshaping work, wealth and the organisations navigating both. She channels that research through All Relative, her advisory platform helping leaders make sense of how wealth, work and family life are being remade in the 21st century.

Her clients include PwC, UBS, Aviva, Pictet, Julius Baer and Cisco. Beyond advisory work, she has partnered with Google Education on AI and the future of learning, advised Schroders on female financial independence, and guest lectured at Harvard Law School.

Filby’s signature programme, The Generational Blueprint, helps organisations navigate multigenerational workforces and the human pressures of AI adoption. It has been adopted by global law firms, engineering companies and government agencies.

Her 2024 book Inheritocracy became a Top Ten Sunday Times bestseller. It confronts a truth most institutions would rather avoid. In Britain today, family money is rapidly becoming the single greatest determinant of life outcome. More so than talent, education or effort. It is rigorous history and a mirror held up to modern Britain.

Eliza Filby holds a PhD in contemporary history from the University of Warwick. She has also lectured at King’s College London and Renmin University, Beijing.

She writes a fortnightly column on money for The Times and a monthly column on work for City AM. Her work has appeared in the Financial Times, Newsweek and The Spectator. She speaks regularly on the BBC, Bloomberg and NBC, and has been a guest on Trevor Noah’s What Now? podcast.

Filby’s weekly newsletter, It’s All Relative, reaches a growing audience of professionals trying to make sense of an economy that no longer follows the rules they were taught. In recognition of her work on generational change, she received the Europa Forum’s Millennial Leaders Award.
