Eileen Gu is one of the most globally influential athletes of her generation. She is a six-time Olympic medallist, Stanford scholar, and a cultural bridge between the East and West.
Born in San Francisco to an American father and Chinese mother, and fluent in both English and Mandarin, Gu represents a new model of global leadership. In 2019, she made the bold decision to compete for China — a move that placed her at the centre of international conversation and redefined what modern identity in sport can look like.
Her competitive record is historic. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Eileen Gu became the first freestyle skier to win three medals at a single Games, capturing gold in Big Air and Halfpipe and silver in Slopestyle at just 18 years old. In 2026, she defended her Olympic Halfpipe title and brought her total to six Olympic medals. The most ever by a freestyle skier. She is also a multi-time World Champion, X Games gold medallist, Crystal Globe winner, and one of the most dominant halfpipe athletes of her era.
But Gu’s influence extends far beyond the slopes.
A student at Stanford University studying physics and international relations, she is known for breaking down elite performance through biomechanics, visualisation science, and risk calculus. Off the mountain, she is a global brand ambassador for leading luxury and sportswear houses, walking runways in Paris and Milan while competing at the highest level of her sport.
Eileen Gu speaks candidly about navigating geopolitical scrutiny, high-stakes decision-making, post-Olympic mental health challenges, and the discipline required to sustain excellence when the world is watching. Her philosophy is simple: train like you’ve never won, compete like you’ve never lost.
