Dean Ho is Provost’s Chair Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Pharmacology at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is Director of the Singapore Institute for Neurotechnology (SINAPSE) and a member of the Biomedical Institute for Global Health Research and Technology (BIGHEART).
Ho and his team developed and clinically validated CURATE.AI, an artificial intelligence driven platform grounded in Phenotypic Personalized Medicine (PPM) that optimises the efficacy and safety of combination therapies across multiple indications. He co-led the world’s first in-human clinical trial to personalise and optimise combination therapy dynamically throughout the entire course of care. In collaboration with leading transplant surgeons, his team applied CURATE.AI to dynamically modulate immunosuppressive regimens to prevent liver transplant rejection. Patients treated with CURATE.AI significantly outperformed control-arm patients across all clinical endpoints and were discharged nearly one month earlier. Ho also pioneered nanodiamond-based platforms that markedly enhance the efficacy and safety of drug delivery and medical imaging. More recently, he initiated a first-in-human clinical trial to evaluate a nanodiamond–biomaterial device for wound healing. He is currently co-leading multiple oncology clinical trials that use CURATE.AI to dynamically modulate multi-drug regimens, resulting in completely halted disease progression and durable patient responses that substantially outperform standard-of-care treatments.
Ho has served as President of the Board of Directors of the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening. He was the first NUS academic elected to the US National Academy of Inventors. He is a recipient of the Fulbright Core U.S. Scholar Fellowship and is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) and the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening. His honours include the NSF CAREER Award, Wallace H. Coulter Foundation Translational Research Award, V Foundation for Cancer Research V Scholar Award, IADR William J. Gies Award, IADR Young Investigator Award, and the UCLA School of Engineering Distinguished Young Alumnus Award. He is a co-founder of KYAN Therapeutics and has advised venture funds and companies in artificial intelligence, digital medicine, and nanomedicine.
