David R. Hardoon shapes how governments, financial institutions and global organisations harness data and artificial intelligence. His career spans government, finance, academia, startups and board leadership, giving him a rare perspective on both the opportunities and responsibilities that come with AI.
Best known for pioneering responsible AI governance in financial services, Hardoon was the first Chief Data Officer of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), where he led the development of Singapore’s AI strategy for the financial sector. He authored the FEAT principles — the world’s first framework for Fairness, Ethics, Accountability and Transparency in AI for finance — and established the MAS-backed Veritas initiative, which has become an international benchmark for responsible AI adoption.
David R. Hardoon has since held senior AI and data leadership roles across global organisations, including serving as Global Head of Artificial Intelligence at Standard Chartered and leading AI transformation across the Aboitiz Group. His work has applied AI to challenges ranging from financial services and risk management to agriculture, manufacturing and sustainability, helping organisations translate emerging technologies into measurable business outcomes.
Today, Hardoon serves as Ambassador for Global Women in AI, sits on the Board of Advisors for Connected Women, is a Data Analytics Advisory Board Member at the Singapore Management University School of Accountancy, and is an Independent Non-Executive Director at Auto & General Services Southeast Asia. He also advises organisations on AI strategy, governance and innovation, drawing on experience gained across both the public and private sectors.
David R. Hardoon holds a PhD in Computer Science specialising in Machine Learning from the University of Southampton and a First Class Honours BSc in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from Royal Holloway, University of London. A self-described “data artist”, he combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking to help organisations navigate the next era of AI.
