David Fishman

David Fishman is a Principal at The Lantau Group, an economic consultancy specialising in power and gas markets across the Asia-Pacific region. Based in Shanghai, he provides regulatory and economic insights into China’s power sector, covering a wide range of technologies including solar, wind, coal, nuclear, hydro, and transmission infrastructure, as well as the evolution of power market mechanisms.

Fishman’s project portfolio includes Chinese power market and policy intelligence, tariff policy analysis for renewables, due diligence for renewable energy asset transactions, advisory on green power procurement for large energy consumers, and business matchmaking services within the Chinese energy landscape.

In addition to his consultancy work, Fishman authors the newsletter Crossing the River by Feeling the Stones, where he explores the underreported aspects of China’s economic transformation. His writing spans topics such as poverty alleviation, small-city economic dynamics, rural solar deployment initiatives, countryside revitalisation, and ethnic tourism development.
