Daniel Negreanu is a renowned professional poker player from Toronto, Canada, who began his poker career at the age of 15 after leaving school. Initially involved in pool and sports betting, Negreanu eventually honed his focus on poker as his primary pursuit.
Relocating to Las Vegas to further his career, Negreanu achieved remarkable success, winning six World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, with four of those victories occurring in Las Vegas. His other bracelet wins include a victory at the WSOP Asia-Pacific (WSOPA) Main Event in Australia, where he earned over one million Australian dollars, as well as another win in Europe. Negreanu has been recognised by the Global Poker Index (GPI) as one of the top players of the past decade.
In addition to his bracelet wins, Negreanu made history by being named WSOP Player of the Year twice (2004 and 2013), the only player to achieve this distinction more than once. His contributions to the game were further solidified in 2014 when he was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame, joining legends like Doyle Brunson, Stu Ungar, and Johnny Chan.
Negreanu’s accomplishments extend beyond the WSOP. He has secured significant victories in other high-profile events, including defeating Doug Polk in the High Stakes Duel, finishing as the runner-up to Dan Colman in the 2014 Big One for One Drop with an impressive $8.2 million prize, and claiming a $3.3 million victory at the 2022 Super High Roller Bowl VII.
A fixture on televised poker shows such as High Stakes Poker, Poker After Dark, and the European Poker Tour (EPT), Negreanu is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern poker. Outside of poker, he enjoys playing Hearthstone and chess and competed in the PogChamps 3 chess tournament in February 2021.
