Damon Hill

Damon Hill is the 1996 FIA Formula 1 World Champion, widely celebrated for his remarkable racing career and legendary battles with Michael Schumacher. As the son of Graham Hill, a two-time world champion, Hill laboriously carved his own path in the high-octane world of F1 that culminated in a triumphant win at the Japanese Grand Prix which secured his family’s unique legacy.

Despite starting late in motorsport, Damon Hill’s journey from motorcycle courier to F1 icon is a testament to his grit and determination. After his father’s tragic death in 1975, Hill had to overcome financial and emotional challenges to begin racing in Formula Ford. As he progressed through the ranks, he eventually impressed Williams as a test driver which led his F1 debut in 1992 and a hugely successful breakout season in 1993.

Damon Hill’s ability to innovate under pressure was evident when he became a key figure at Williams. In 1994, he heroically led the team after the loss of Ayrton Senna, narrowly missing the championship title by a single point after a dramatic clash with Schumacher. His crowning glory came in 1996, where he secured eight wins and the world championship, establishing himself as a formidable force in the sport.

Beyond the grid, Damon Hill’s insights into leadership and resilience resonates deeply with businesses and teams. As President of the British Racing Drivers’ Club, he played a pivotal role in securing the future of the British Grand Prix. His passion for innovation is also evident with his investment in Zero Petroleum, a pioneer in sustainable fuels.

Today, Damon is a prominent Sky Sports pundit that shares his expertise and engages audiences with stories of triumph and lessons learned on the racetrack. His advocacy for renewable energy and sustainable practices also highlights his forward-thinking vision and capacity for reinvention.
