Bill Russo

Bill Russo is the Shanghai-based Founder and CEO of Automobility Limited, a strategy and investment advisory firm dedicated to shaping the future of mobility. With over 40 years of global experience spanning the automotive, electronics, and information technology sectors, he brings a unique and deeply informed perspective to the evolution of transportation and mobility solutions.

Russo’s career includes 21 years of on-the-ground experience in China and across Asia, and more than 15 years as an automotive executive with Chrysler. Russo served as the Regional Head of Chrysler in North East Asia, where he led the launch of six new vehicle programs within a three-year period. He played a pivotal role in securing key government approvals and building local sourcing and sales infrastructures critical to Chrysler’s growth in the region.

Russo has served as a trusted advisor to numerous multinational corporations and Chinese enterprises, guiding the development and execution of their global market and product strategies. His work focuses on enabling clients, ranging from startups to established firms and investors to capitalise on the transformative trends of China’s Automobility Revolution. In his advisory practice, Russo emphasises the importance of shifting from a traditional product-centric mindset toward a utility-based model of mobility. He advocates for the creation of digital ecosystems and business models that deliver value through connected, data-driven solutions for both private car ownership and shared mobility services.

Russo holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and a Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Lehigh University.
