Aravind Srinivas is the CEO and Co-Founder of Perplexity, an AI-powered answer engine that delivers more than 10 billion secure and accurate answers annually to individuals and organisations, including finance professionals, shoppers, publishers, students, and decision-makers.
Founded in 2022, Perplexity is developing a new approach to online search, using AI to provide direct, nuanced answers to questions rather than simply returning a list of links. The company has rapidly emerged as a leading AI startup, attracting prominent investors, research scientists, venture capitalists, and founders from some of the world’s most transformative technology companies.
Srinivas’ career spans leading AI research organisations and technology companies. In 2019, he joined Google-owned DeepMind in London as a research intern, where his interest in the evolution of search and technology was further shaped by Steven Levy’s In the Plex, a history of Google’s development. He later worked as a Research Scientist at OpenAI before joining Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California, where he focused on developing machine-learning systems for computer vision.
In 2022, Srinivas co-founded Perplexity alongside Jonny Ho, Andy Konwinski, and Denis Yarats, bringing together expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and large-scale computing to rethink how people access information online.
Srinivas holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
