Alex Capri

Alex Capri is a senior lecturer at the Business School and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he teaches international trade, global value chains, and geo-economics.

With over two decades of experience in Asia, Capri previously served as a partner and the regional leader of KPMG’s Asia Trade and Customs Practice, based in Hong Kong and Singapore. Before entering the private sector, he worked as a trade specialist with the US Department of the Treasury and the US Customs Service.

Capri is a regular panellist at the World Economic Forum and a recognised thought leader on trade and technology. He contributes to Forbes Asia and Nikkei Asia, and his insights are frequently cited by global media outlets including The Economist, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN Business, Barron’s, and the South China Morning Post. He appears regularly on international broadcast platforms such as Bloomberg, BBC, CNBC, CNN, Channel News Asia, Al Jazeera, and Deutsche Welle.

He is the author of the best-selling book Techno-Nationalism: How It’s Reshaping Trade, Geopolitics and Society, which explores the intersection of technological rivalry and global power dynamics.

Capri is also the Managing Director of CAPA INT’L, a Singapore-based consultancy that provides research, training, and strategic advisory services to multinational corporations and governments across Asia, the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

He holds an M.Sc. in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics and a B.Sc. in International Relations from the University of Southern California.
